My brother was a teacher, and he told me that the people he went to college with (whom also graduated and are teaching kids now) were some of the dumbest people he has ever met. Anyway, I said all of that just so you would know that coming to a comment section of a random website and saying that you are an English teacher, as if that is a position of higher power and intellect, is absolutely ridiculous. After that, almost 100% of what that teacher taught me was retained. Same with history, I HATED it, finally I got a teacher that just made it fun to learn. It can be done, I used to hate math until I had a teacher that made it exciting (or fun) for me. I also understand that some of this is to blame on the parent, and some on the child, but mostly it’s the teachers fault for not making the subject they are teaching exciting.
